2 Report to the 2020 District Conference

4 The Commission on Nurture has a responsibility for fostering education and spiritual growth in
5 the life of our sisters and brothers throughout the District of Southern Pennsylvania. This is done
6 through worship, music, training seminars, financial support, and the fellowship of believers.

8 The following events and actions were carried out by the Nurture Commission this past year:
9 1. Leisure Ministry and Park Chaplaincy
10 • Chaplains are needed yearly for both Gifford Pinchot and Codorus camps. We
11 were unable to find a chaplain for Codorus camp, therefore the PA Council of
12 Churches had to supply a chaplain.
13 2. Women’s Ministry
14 2020 District Women’s Spring Luncheon
15 • The luncheon was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
16 • Hanover Church of the Brethren were scheduled to host for the 2020 luncheon.
17 They have graciously agreed to host the luncheon in 2021.
18 2020 District Women’s Camp
19 • Camp was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
20 • Shanks and Greencastle Churches of the Brethren were scheduled to host camp
21 this year. They have graciously agreed to host camp in 2021.
22 3. Men’s Ministry
23 Man2Man Workshop
24 • The Man2Man Workshop was held on February 22, 2020 at the Mechanicsburg
25 Church of the Brethren. Paul Mundey was the guest speaker. There were 69
26 gentlemen in attendance.
27 • The next Man2Man workshop will be held on February 20, 2021 at the
28 Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren. Dave Sollenberger will be the guest
29 speaker.
30 4. Youth and Young Adult Ministries
31 • A Youth Retreat was planned at Camp Eder for March 27-29, 2020. This had to
32 be cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions. The next Youth Retreat is being
33 planned for spring of 2021.
34 • Christian Citizenship Seminar was cancelled in April 2020. There were no
35 known participants planning to attend from our district.
36 • The NYAC (National Young Adult Conference) was to be held in person but was
37 later changed to a virtual conference which took place May 21 – 25, 2020. Three
38 individuals from our district received $100 scholarships to attend this event.
39 When the conference was changed to virtual, the district received a refund for
40 these scholarships from the NYAC office.
41 5. Child Protection Policy
42 • The Nurture Commission is requesting that each church in the Southern PA
43 District send an electronic copy of all clearances for church staff to the District
44 Office for their files. In addition, if members of your congregation volunteer for
