Who We Are
The Church of the Brethren began in Germany in 1708 as an effort to practice the teachings of the New Testament.  For guidance, Brethren look to the Scriptures rather than to doctrine.  Our faith emphasizes compassion, peacemaking, and simplicity.  The Church of the Brethren is known as a Historic Peace Church (along with the Mennonites and Society of Friends or Quakers).

*The ministry of the Richmond Church of the Brethren began in 1925.  In 1926 the church held services in an old school house without an official pastor.  In 1926 Pearl Jackson filled the pulpit for a year.  In 1927 the congregation was organized and O. D. Werking was the first Elder.  Richmond's first meetinghouse was finished in 1931.  In 1968 the congregation moved into a yoked parish with the Four Mile Church of Brethren which ended in 1999. Today the church continues to grow.
