That the church’s purpose is to make Christ, His way of salvation, and His salvation known as widely as possible throughout the world, beginning in our own community.
That Jesus came to bring an abundant life both now and forever.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the First Church of the Brethren of Peoria is to glorify Christ by discerning God’s will through:
Prayer,
Worship,
the Word,
Christ-centered Service to the community,
Social Justice,
Christian Growth,
by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We believe that the church, as the Body of Christ, is under the Lord’s mandate to make disciples of all people and share the gospel by word and deed. This great commission (Matthew 28: 19-20) has both inner and outer direction. Making disciples takes place within the body of Christ. Our inner mission, therefore, seeks to foster meaningful worship, to nurture and educate, and to encourage discipleship. Being members of God’s family, we seek to support and uplift each other in fellowship, prayer, and sharing.
We believe the church is to make Christ known as widely as possible. This outer mission includes the transmission of the gospel to individuals, communities, cultures, and nations.
May we be strengthened by the knowledge that God’s renewing Spirit anoints those who follow the path of Christ.
