WHEN GOD SAID "YES" by Del Keeney
When God said "yes!" to the emerging world, 'twas Word that shaped the chaos night and led the Ruach spirit from the darkness into light.
When God said "yes!" to Abram on the plain 'twas promises and faith that drove him forward into blessing for his own and humankind
When God said "yes!" to birth in a manger stall 'twas Love that swaddled all the world, 'twas love enfleshed in mercy as in faithfulness he came.
When God said "yes!" to Jesus in the stream 'twas Love embraced as honored Son and sent among the people for their healing and their calm.
When God said "yes!" to Jesus' garden prayer 'twas sacrifice a path proclaimed, accepted and obeyed though none would understand.
When God said "yes!" to those who nailed him there, 'twas anguish known by both to let the sin of all the world rest on his only Son.
When God said "yes!" to Love poured out in blood 'twas God himself was broken as He severed from the Son; allowing that death's deed be done.
But one more time, Almighty God said "yes!" This time when Word and Love combined to overwhelm said death, and stir within, new life.
When God said "yes!" 'twas Word profound that broke both dark and night and death and sin to make creation new again when God once more said yes!
Friends, As I was preparing the Easter message, I found myself moved to write this bit of free verse. As we journey on in this season of Easter, I pray that you will be encouraged with the wonder of God's "Yes!", given to us in our Risen Lord.
Yours in Him ~~ Pastor Del |
