Northern Indiana District Continuing Education |
The 2002 Annual Conference established Continuing Education Guidelines for Ministerial leaders serving congregations in pastoral roles. (Read the Guidelines Paper) The Guidelines establish expectations for both Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Electives. 1 CEU is equal to ten contact hours of work with an accredited institution and a pastoral leader is expected to complete work in at least five of the eight focus areas listed below during the five-year interval between ordination reviews. The 2007 Annual Conference added an expectation that all pastors have ongoing continuing education focusing on intercultural activity and that this be a requirement for re-ordination and relicensing. In addition, a pastoral leader is expected to engage in at least one elective study annually. The electives may be of shorter duration and often do not involve a CEU certificate. On this page we will seek to to share information regarding various continuing education opportunities.
