Youth Programs
KIDDS Club:
At Eastwood, we take the commandment to Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6) very seriously. In keeping with this call, we have KIDDS Club—a youth program that meets every other Thursday night (during the school year). The purpose of KIDDS Club is to teach children between the ages of five to ten basic biblical principles that we pray would follow them throughout their life. At KIDDS Club, children are encouraged to memorize certain key verses. Children are also encouraged to bring their bibles, a friend, and some energy as they share in the evening’s activities, such as reading, recreation, and refreshments. Each evening, we invite children to bring loose change with them that goes toward some mission program within our area or abroad.
We have a KIDDS store where children are able to purchase items with the KIDDS dollars they earn for reciting their verses, remembering to bring their Bibles, a friend, monies collected toward a mission program, and for any rewards they may receive during recreation. KIDDS club starts in September and continues on toward the end of the school year. Vacation Bible School:
Every year we host a week of Vacation Bible School. Our purpose is to teach the children from both the church and community about the love of God made known through His Son Jesus Christ. Throughout the week, children enjoy looking and listening to skits and learning new songs; creating crafts as well as competing in games; and partaking in both food and fellowship.
This year children revved as they set their sights on making it to the finish line in The Incredible Race. Throughout the week, children learned how God chose and called ordinary people to do extraordinary things and how to put into practice some of the principles they learned, such as collecting funds to assist families whose lives Hurricane Katrina washed out. We exceeded our of goal of $200.00 by collecting close to $300.00
At our Vacation School wrap-up during the morning of our Sunday Service, children are recognized for their participation. This year, the children received a certificate for running the race along with a gold medallion for making it across the finish line.
