The South/Central Indiana District of the Church of the Brethren has initiated a Yellow Ribbon program and would like to invite all other CotB districts, other denominations and individuals to join in "Tying a Yellow Ribbon" in memory of victims of shootings and violence. The program was initiated Sept. 16, 1999. You may contact Ron Finney, District Minister at 219/982-8805 or by e-mail at

Following is the message that was sent out to all district CotB congregations by Dee Grindle, Secretary S/C Indiana District ngrindle@hoosierlink.net
Following the reports of shooting and violence in a Baptist Church in
Texas on September 15, 1999, which is one more of many acts of hate and
violence throughout our country in recent weeks, Brother J.P. Freeman
has invited us to join the Living Faith Church of the Brethren Flora,
Indiana to wear or tie yellow ribbons as a symbol:
-- in support of the congregation suffering violence, in their time of
shock and grief;
-- as a reminder for us all to pray and work for an end to violence.
Continuing the work of Jesus ... Peacefully ... Simply ... Together.
Ron & Harriet Finney, District Ministers
